Update from SPADE

Since the last Scene, SPADE has been very busy preparing for the Examination in Public (EIP) of the Vale District Council Local plan to 2031. We made submissions on a number of issues including housing site locations in the Green Belt (GB) and particularly the soundness of the GB policy (or in our view, lack of policy…). We were invited to participate in the EIP at the session on the GB, which we did on 3rd February, representing both SPADE and the Parish Council. We attended alongside CPRE and other local campaign groups with whom we have been working closely in the run up to the Examination.

District Councillor Update

It seems a long time ago now that Debby Hallett and I were elected to the Vale of White Horse District Council to represent the new ward of Botley and Sunningwell, and Debby became Leader of the (Liberal Democrat) Opposition at the Vale.
Since the election we have been busy dealing with queries from residents about planning applications and waste collections, attending Parish Meetings and meetings about the redevelopment of central Botley. Over the next few months the Vale’s Local Plan 2031 Part 1 goes before the Planning inspectorate and we will be making the case against ad hoc development of the Oxford green belt. We are working with communities to explore Neighbourhood Planning and hope to meet more of you at the festivals and community events happening over the summer.

Parishioners are invited to come along to your Annual Parish Meeting where village organisations will report on their activities over the past year. This provides a record of what has been happening in the Parish and acknowledges the work of the people involved.
It is also an opportunity for local residents and organisations to hear from the Parish Council, and a chance to discuss and ask questions about local issues.
